Ever since I was a little girl, I've wanted to write. Stories.
We get plenty of practice writing other stuff through school. But my real desire has been to write the kind of fiction that I like to read. The books that let me escape my current life and explore other worlds.
In spite of wanting to write, I find myself doing very little of it. Oh, I've kept a journal, had pen-pals, and done tons of schoolwork, and later work-work that had included a fair amount of technical writing. I've tried my hand at poetry and written a few short stories. I even entered a copule contests (and got an honorable mention in one.)
But I have yet to even try submitting any of my writing for publication!
The closest I've come is to keep up some blogs online. Hey, don't knock it...I've been paid!
I signed up on Blogit hoping to cross the line from wannabe to professional. If being a professional means getting a paycheck (even a small one) then it worked. I'm still maintaining 5 subscription blogs. I recommend Blogit as more than just a place to write. The money is there, but it's not a lot. And you have to write A LOT to get what's available. It takes more time than it's worth in dollars. But there are a lot of other benefits there. Blogit has built a community of readers as well as writers. I've found there are plenty of people there willing to provide comments and feedback. They have become like family in a lot of ways, and the friendship and support there are worth the subscription fees.
This is my online journal. It talks about my job, travels, struggles with my weight and depression, hopes, dreams, and other daily stuff.
I'm trying to keep this one for ideas and thoughts that are more or less advice I'd give my kids or friends. It's filled with the kinds of thoughts and opinions that aren't too likely to offend.
This blog on the other hand is for my thoughts and opinions about hot topics like religion and politics. I'm an independant thinker, and expect to offend most people with one post or another.
About homeschooling my son on the truck, and parenting a gifted child. It has photos of my son, stories about cute things he does - and sometimes the annoying things. It also has some posts that are dictated by him.
A place to post memories that may make it into my autobiography if I ever decide to write one.
I also keep a non- subscription blog on my space. This one mainly focuses on where I am and what I'm doing. A travelouge about driving a truck for a living and homeschooling my 6-year old son in between trips.
I'm hoping to add some other samples of my "real" writing when I have time. Take care and check back every few months for updates.
